GPS Navigation Installation

The navigation system can be purchased from Ebay.  $700 is a very good price compared to $900 from the dealer.  This is an OEM part that includes the Garmin Quest 2 gps unit, mount and pre-installled maps.

The installation of the navigation system was pretty straight forward.  Just follow the supplied instructions.

A demo of the unit can be seen on the Youtube link below.

Remove the original storage box.  Pry it up from the rear (front of FJ) first because the front has hooks.

Remove the center console per the instructions to expose the cigarette lighter connector

Use the supplied wire harnesses to connect to the lighter.  Feed the power wire up to the storage compartment.

Connect the power connector to the circuit board

After the power is tested, secure the mount with the two screws

Now you have a nice clean navigation system that is always connected with out any charging wires or ugly suction cups.  The speaker on the left is very clear and loud (adjustable).  The Garmin unit can be removed and is small enough to fit in your pocket.  Don't worry about getting it wet because it is water resistant to more than 3 feet.
